Free Kick

Objective

"Free Kick" is a game in which free kicks are taken in an attempt to beat a three man wall of players - and the keeper.  Points are awarded for putting the ball in the net, and for doing it with style

Game Play

Five (5) free kicks are attempted per game.  Five points are awarded for each goal scored.   Additional points for style are awarded based on the characteristics of each shot (e.g., Amount of bend).

Taking Aim

Kick direction and bend are controlled using a multi-colored, 3D axis adjacent to the ball.

Click and drag the blue arrow to change the initial shot direction.  The point of the blue arrow is where the ball will be impacted.  Hit the ball low to make it go high.  Generally, the direction of the shot should be as close as possible to the wall of players without actually hitting the wall.

Click and drag the red arrow to change the amount of horizontal bend/spin put on the ball.  If the initial shot direction is not on goal, some bend should be applied to make the ball change direction while it is in the air.  Drag the arrow to the left to make the ball swerve left.  Drag the arrow right to make it swerve right.

Click and drag the green arrow to change the amount of vertical top spin put on the ball.  Use vertical spin to get the highly lofted balls (e.g., balls shot over the wall) to drop down into the net.

Click and hold the RIGHT mouse button to see an overview of where the player is situated on the field.

Taking the shot

Once the shot direction and bend has been set, press the "Space" bar to start the kick.

Point System and Records

Each goal scored is worth 5 points.   Additional style points are awarded as follows:

Shot directly over player wall - 2 points
Horizontal bend - 1 point
Top spin - 1 point
Just inside the post - 2 points
Just under the crossbar - 2 points

Total points, goals scored and style points are displayed after each shot.

If you beat your personal best for number of points scored, a "Personal Best" window will appear displaying your new record.  If you think you may have beaten the World Record time for points scored (the current World Record can be found at www.creative-computing-inc.com), take a screen shot of the "Personal Best" window (alt-Print Screen) and e-mail the screen shot to records@creative-computing-inc.com.  Include your initials and, optionally, your country if you'd like them to be listed along side your World Record.
